To Blog or not to Blog?
Published August 25, 2006 by Gillian Hunter
Microsoft, IBM, Siemens, Innocent, Bird's Eye ... all have blogs. And, if they're not talking about themselves - somebody else is likely to be blogging about them. Most savvy businesses have realised the value of blogging.
The great thing about blogging - is that you don't know where it will take you, but one thing is for sure it will move your business forward, it will connect you with your public, and engage with them is a way you haven't been able to engage with them before.
How do you create a great blog ... You need say stuff that interests people. You need to engage with people - start a conversation about things you are passionate about and interests you. Who would have thought that Bird's Eye Frozen Peas would have a popular and interesting blog!
Who should blog ... Blogging isn't just for the CEO - and certainly not the Head of Marketing. Heaven forbid! Get your geeks out there - the people who are really passionate about what they do. Anyone in the company should have a chance to blog. What a scary thought!! But, it needn't be!
Microsoft have a portal for its employees blogs ... a huge selection that will appeal from tech heads to normal folk.
You can't ignore blogs anymore! Whether you decide to blog or not - chances are you will be blogged about. So, take steps today to redress the balance - positively and confidently - and certainly not defensively.
